The high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, light weight, supreme formability, and infinite recyclability of the metal, coupled with the fact that bauxite (the ore from which aluminium is made) mining is sustainable, have given aluminium the ‘green metal’ moniker. Vedanta Aluminium & Power Vedanta Aluminium & Power Business is India’s largest producer of ‘green metal’ aluminium, the second most important metal in the world. Backed by rich deposits of high-quality bauxite, India has the second largest aluminium production capacity in the world after China. We produce more than half of India’s aluminium at 1.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in FY20.
