Campion School is a boys school, founded on January 20,1943, by the members of the Society of Jesus, a Roman Catholic Religious Order commonly called the Jesuits. The Founder Principal was Late Fr. Joseph Savall S.J. The School began its career in a rental ground floor at 45 New Marine Lines with just 23 children, but as the year advanced there were 70 boys on the rolls. Campion School shifted its quarters to its originally intended premises at Wellesely House in January 1948. In 1956, Campion attained the stature of a full fledged High School with 382 children on its rolls, recognized both by the University of Cambridge as an A - CERTIFICATE SCHOOL, and by the SSC Board, Pune. Fr. Savall S.J. gave birth to the school, Fr. Conessa S.J. nursed it for a while, but Fr. More S.J. gave it a culture and a singular aspect, unique in the history of Campion School.

City Montessori School, popularly known as CMS, is the world's largest private school in a single city, recognized by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination for ICSE and ISC. CMS has adopted the Montessori method of preschool education. The school appoints Montessori trained teachers of proven ability and temperament to take care of the little ones and to initiate them into learning by doing. A British expert, Ms. Jo Lewington Hignett, spent a year to develop Montessori classrooms and a workshop for classroom materials for CMS. With the end of the East India Company’s regime in India and the failure of the first armed uprising in 1857, for India’s freedom, a new era dawned in our country. It was clear that the emancipation of our land and the transformation of the life of our people had to be brought about by peaceful and constitutional means. Indian renaissance had began and it heralded the role which education needed to play to achieve national aspirations. Wood’s Education Despatch (1854), the Education Commission of 1882 and the Hunter Commission (1891), were all indicative of the concerted efforts, of both the Government and the Indian people, in the enterprise of education. The Founders of the Fergusson College had first started the New English School, Pune in 1880 and later established the Deccan Education Society (DES) in 1884. This was followed by the bold step to start the first ever privately managed college in India, on the 2nd January 1885, naming it as the Fergusson College.

The illustrious history of academic excellence of Presidency College, Kolkata is intimately entwined with the intellectual history of Bengal and India. The foundation of the Hindoo College in 1817 has had far reaching effects on the social and cultural history of the country. The college was renamed as Presidency College and brought under the direct control of the Government in 1855. The college was founded with the expressed intention of providing modern education to the Indian students. Though originally meant for the boys of the Hindu elite, the college was thrown open to all communities after 1855. The liberal, secular, scientific spirit that marked the advent of Indian modernity was born in this college. Indeed, the history of the college merges into the history of the Bengal, and by extension, the Indian Renaissance.
