The MIA is a unique organisation where professionals from different areas of the development sector and academia join hands to foster the growth of microinsurance. Our model looks at empowering and enabling poor communities to play an active and responsible role in reducing their financial vulnerability through a process - as opposed to a product - that communities understand, own and manage. We undertake cutting-edge Research on microinsurance and all socio-economic aspects of community based insurance schemes, and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Our staff provide Structured Technical Assistance to grassroots organisations and development agencies around the globe to set up Micro Insurance Units. We carry out Training programmes for professionals in the field and
