Garden High School was established in 2000 (first Academic Year 2001-2002) as an effort to translate the visions of the late Satikanta Guha, the Founder of South Point School & High School, one of the largest schools in the world, into reality. The School is being promoted by the Satikanta Guha Foundation under the chairmanship of Mr Indranath Guha. He is a graduate of the Universities of Calcutta and Oxford. After teaching for seven years at Jadavpur University, he joined South Point. He was its Principal for more than 22 years.
He has taught English at secondary, higher secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As the Secretary of South Point, which had a combined strength of about 12,000 pupils, 400 teachers and 300 members of office and service staff, he bore the major part of the burden of administration. He, therefore, has considerable experience in both spheres: actual classroom teaching and school administration. |
